Today I want to touch on something that many of us face in our lives. And that is settling. How many can think of a time when they settled in their life? I know there have been times in mine. We can do this in a relationship, telling ourselves that we might as well settle for someone who is abusive or hurtful because we don’t deserve better.
We do this in our jobs, we settle for a job that makes us die a little on the inside every day, because we are too nervous to step out and try something new.
We settle in our fitness goals because we convince ourselves we will always be small and skinny, or always be overweight and that’s just how our genetics made us.
Every time we settle we give in to a lie that either we ourselves or someone else has told us. Now I will be the first to admit, when you choose not to settle anymore, it’s scary as crap. Settling can feel safe even though it kills us inside.
So don’t give in to the settling anymore. Move on, get over it, and march on. If that job is making you miserable, quit settling! If that relationship continues to scar you or your children don’t settle! And if you you are tired of being weak or overweight, don’t settle!
You can make change, so step out and start. Let settling be a thing of the past.
