It’s a bird…..it’s a plane…….it’s a carb!!!! There is a lot of hatred/fear towards carbohydrates these days and I hope to clear up maybe some misconceptions with them.
The Keto diet is all the rage right now and many are avoiding carbs like the plague, as if the carbs will attack them in their sleep and turn their hard earned fitness gains into globbery gloop.
Our bodies NEED carbs. Carbohydrates are the number one source of energy that our bodies use. So that energy you need to get through your busy day, crush your workout and not feel drained by two o’ clock in the afternoon, yeah carbs can help with that.
Now before you call up your local pizzeria and order three large cheese pizzas hear me out.
Not all carbs are created equal. There are definitely very bad carbs that you should avoid because they do nothing for your body except get converted into fat.
But there are many good carbs that our bodies need. We will talk more in Thursday’s blog about the specific types of carbs you should and shouldn’t be eating. But carbs are essential if you are wanting to lift and get strong.
